A café serving delicious barista coffee, fresh food bowls, cakes, scones, focaccia, wood-fired pizza, pasties and more, Chester’s is one of the most delicious spots to visit in the Lake District. Plus, with outdoor seating, you can enjoy your meal right beside the stunning River Brathay.

I personally LOVED the kimchi fritter focaccia sandwich, absolutely delicious! The vegan chicken and mushroom pasty is fantastic too, perfect for packing in your backpack and enjoying as a lunch on a hike.

To find this hidden gem, take the A593 road from Ambleside for 4.5 km (2.8 miles), heading through Clappersgate towards Little Langdale. Chester’s is just past the sign for the Skelwith Bridge Hotel on your right.
